Just wanted to know if anyone had ideas or opinions of what brands are good or that have worked well for them when it comes to CAI, headers and exhaust systems??

I have JBA headers, and a Ram Hammer CAI and a Hyperpac tuner and a Borla dual exhaust. The headers are excellent, Borla is excellent but loud at wot. Ram Hammer is pretty sweet, but expensive and be prepared to wait a long time to get one, so harder to recommend and combined with the exhaust system at wot it it very very loud, door rattling, space shuttle on take off loud! I love it! It will cause Hondas and Toyotas to pull over when you start to pass! The Hyperpac is expensive and today I would buy the Diablo Predator, much better tuner. Oh yes I have a Nitrous Express 100 shot and the 15 lb tank under the rear seat of my 05 QC. I forgot to mention the other great mod , Rancho 9000 shocks, outstanding, I have finally adjusted to max firmness and the truck handles like a sports car.

You could save yourself allot of money on the exhaust and just replace the restrictive parts of it... Your Factory 3" single pipe is more then plenty for your average 348ci engine.

I would just replace your factory "Y" Pipe with a HIGH FLOW "Y" pipe like the Flowmaster Scavengers series "Y" and then a High Flow muffler... Magnaflow seems to make the better performing mufflers lately... at least from what I have seen.

Adding a set of headers is also a great mod... I would recomend the PACESETTER LONG TUBEs... they are SUPER affordable and even have the option of a HIGH FLOW Primary "Y" pipe which is a dual 3" from each collector into a Single 3"... which is perfect for great low end torque... you would easily get both improved low end torque with increased top end HP with that set up.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me.

I like my pacesetter longtube. I wish AirRam still made his intake but since he doesn't the ramhammer and is pretty good.

Any intake/exhaust will be better than stock - don't get hung up on brands though. As for mufflers, check the flow rates and materials used. I believe Flowmaster is typically on the lower flow, more restrictive side. You also want to consider the sound - I have Dynatech LT's with hi-flo cats/y-pipe into a Magnaflow SI/SO muffler and it's loud. The K&N cai seems to work okay for me as well but is also pretty loud. While your doing the exhaust, put in a wideband A/F sensor/meter so you can keep an eye on your ratios. LT's tend to lean it out. The power-wire from Airram seems to help get that back under control.

Programmers to look at are basically superchips or diablo. SC is available new, used, and cheap. Their canned tunes are proven and work well, especially the 91 octane program. Diablo will be the next best thing since sliced bread once they work out their bugs but moreso for the heavily modded engines. Not too user friendly for the 03-04 guys yet. SC is just fine for bolt-on mods.

I think the important question is what/who NOT to go with. Most of the major brands seem to offer a decent product and customer support. Stay away from the throttle body spacers unless you are looking for a place to tap nitrous jets. Stay away from anything JET, except maybe their thermostats. Be careful if you change your dampner, can't remember which brand but one of them has caused damage to many engines. Oh, and if it looks too good to be true on ebay - it probably is a waste of money. Look for user testimonials on these types of forums, dyno results, and track times to make an educated decision. Once the modding starts, it never stops!!!

This is just my two cents and I am by no means an expert. Hopefully others will chime in so we all may benefit.

Zoomers. They are a vendor here and will give you a fare price. Talk to Ron Arlasky. He is the owner.

All good advice... I just wanted to add a some words with a few specifics to your post... And work on my post count... :)

The Dynatech LT's with hi-flo cats/y-pipe are a GREAT product... but very expensive... Im a big fan of Magnaflow and their "FLOW THROUGH" style mufflers. Only loud at WOT but quite at part throttle.

While your doing the exhaust, put in a wideband A/F sensor/meter so you can keep an eye on your ratios. LT's tend to lean it out. The power-wire from Airram seems to help get that back under control.

Thanks for the plug, the Power wire will help RICHEN your AFR from anywhere from .5 to 1 full point. If your going to run LONG TUBES/HIGH FLOW "Y" PIPE/INTAKE/EXHAUST then your most likely on the lean side... Get yourself a WIDE BAND AFR gauge or go to the DYNO to find out for sure.

Great advice, Superchips is best if you just plan "Bolt ons". Diablo will be better BUT it allows the customer the ability to make timing/fuel adjustments.... This can be good if they know what they are doing...but if the customer makes a mistake, they could cause SEVER engine damage. So know your skills... If you have none.... then the superchips may be your best bet.

I think the important question is what/who NOT to go with. Most of the major brands seem to offer a decent product and customer support. Stay away from the throttle body spacers unless you are looking for a place to tap nitrous jets. Stay away from anything JET, except maybe their thermostats.

Unless its a "JET STREAM" ... LOL

Again, your on a role.... The JET CHIP is bad news in many cases... sure you may find ONE person who loves it but there will be another hand full who have had their PCMs fried by one.

Be careful if you change your dampner, can't remember which brand but one of them has caused damage to many engines.

The dampner was made from ASP, but also sold/re-named by MOTO BLUE. On the HEMI they have been known to cause the tone ring on the crank to distort and "KISS" the sensor which causes catostrophic damage... only way to fix it is to pull the engine/ pull the crank, replace the Tone Ring. ... OUCH!

Oh, and if it looks too good to be true on ebay - it probably is a waste of money. Look for user testimonials on these types of forums, dyno results, and track times to make an educated decision. Once the modding starts, it never stops!!!

You pretty much touched most the big points...

I like my pacesetter longtube. I wish AirRam still made his intake but since he doesn't the ramhammer and is pretty good.

I feel the RAMHAMMER is a cool looking intake but way overpriced... and it still NEVER made any more HP then the our AIR RAM INDUCTION SYSTEMS... With that said. I feel there are a few induction systems that for HALF the price could come within 2-3HP of the RAMHAMMER... if not make the same amount of HP.

A 4" Home made intake could without doubt EQUAL or even out perform the RAMHAMMER!...

Any full length intake that goes from the throttle body and draws its air from the passengers side wheel well will show very similar gains... In the case of induction systems.... BIGGER IS BETTER! 3.5" to 4" should be used when ever possible!

I have a k&n cai and I noticed a good difference with it. I originally had a s&d and sent it back. I have true dual flowmaster 50's and its not to loud has a good aggressive tone.

I'm happy with my Ramhammer. though, the only other CAI i had ever used was K&N CAI.
I bought it used so I can't comment on it being overpriced.
I did notice a power increase but can't say how much of HP increase, just that its a noticable increase.
If nothing else, it looks sweet as hell and made my exhaust sound beefy.
