They have been saying "coming soon" for 2 years. We have no tuner yet......

If you read Mike's post in the Diablo forum (http://www.ramtruckforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=82&postcount=3) it sounds like they are coming out with a tuner for the gas powered ram very soon.

I may have been mistaken, I thought it was out already.

I read that. I hope he's right this time. I mean no disrespect to Diablo. I will probably pick one of their programmers up when they com out, but...
the "any time now..soon...almost done.....just waiting on hardware" thing has been going on since the LX tuner came out.
It would be great if it came out soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Until then SCT is working just fine for 04-06 trucks

Does it matter if your truck is a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?

If/when the programmer comes out, and if it is like the programmer for the LX models, it will not matter if it is 1/2 or 3/4 ton model. I could be wrong, but then again that is why I am trying to get more information for one to use on our mega cab with 5.7; it is 1500 model with 2 wheel drive.

This was the case with the programmer for the LX models (Charger, 300, & magnum), it seemed like it took awhile for it to finally be complete and start shipping.

We were told it would be released with the LX tuner. Then 1 month later. then at sema. then they couldn't get hardware but as soon as they did it would be out. then they wanted to add the 07s. then trans control was just about done so it should be out any time. then they needed more 03s to work with. then they said maybe sema this year.....I hope so!
FWIW your 1500 mega cab is a 2500 with lighter load leafs. All the mega cabs are built on 3/4 or 1 ton chassis.

"FWIW your 1500 mega cab is a 2500 with lighter load leafs. All the mega cabs are built on 3/4 or 1 ton chassis."
Yeah, I know. The whole 1500 designation is just like you said, softer springs. Still has the 8-lug wheels. It is not that far of a drive from here to Diablo, maybe I could drive over and they could beta test me?

Gains on the 06 1500 we did here were great, we picked up so much power on 87 octane that I almost don't want to say it (got ma bashed pretty good on another forum, lol), so we'll just wait for this to hit the streets so you guys can make a good informed decision based on independent 3rd party testing.
Thanks

Mike this is always my luck, day late and a dollar short! I applied a little too late for the SRT8 testing too. Maybe when the secret release date is revealed, we can get a super awesome fantastic Florida, Ram Truck Forum deal... I have to work it from every angle!

i see you guys only talking about diablo, have you considered others , such as superchip, hypertech, and edge evolution.
how do you rate these and come to one choice,, just asking i know nothing here, i see these programers every where and you guys are saying there not out yet...........
well maybe they are now since this an old thread ???
the other choices seem to claim to do the same thing as diablo, so i'm just wondering
thats all... dont want ruffle any ones feathers over their brand of choice.
even i would like to do this to my mega cab hemi,
heres a link to afew brands, maybe these are junk and i have'nt read the post yet here on'em????

DDGlad to see you are doing your homework, there is nothing better than an educated consumer.
I can point out to you some of the benefits of the Predator.
The main thing that a lot of guys were after was the ability to customize their tune to their truck. We allow the end user to modify things like WOT fueling, WOT spark advance, rev and speed limits, as well as idle speed and shift points.
In addition to these options, if you have a heavily modified vehicle, you can visit any of our CMR tuning dealers who can strap the truck to the dyno and tune it for whatever combo you may have, like Heads and Cam or a Supercharger or Turbo system.
Add to that our preloaded canned tunes, and the ability to do some serious datalogging and diagnostics with the same tool, and we have a winner.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks
Mike

hey mike thanx but i'm not done reading up on em yet,
i see one thing tho , thats alot of money for just alittle gain hp, some promise quite a jump in hp, 10hp to 50hp, just depending what you have done
there is competition there and what i would be willing to buy is when it comes down to my choices of ?.... service.....service....service.
thats a plus , you could promise me the best of the best, and not any service ? for your product and i would go to the next place of business and pay afew more or less just for the service..
but still i need to read up on these performance gadgets, maybe warranty is the only thing these come with,,, and once you bought one ????
it does sound like you've been in the electronics of this for quite awhile
oh well ..

DDI will hold our level of customer service up to ANYONE inthis business.
We strive to take care of all of our customers.
We have our own tech support forums set up to help you contact us, and we are on lots of different sites like this one to support you.
As for HP, no matter what all of the other guys 'claim', gains will be similar from truck to truck no matter whose tuner you use, unless its a really bad tune, lol.
The main benefit to the Predator is its ability to allow you to alter the tunes to your liking, so as to not force you into a 'cookie cutter' tune.
Thanks

Also, as to price...you will be hard pressed to find ANYTHING that will add power to your truck on the order of +20 rwhp for anywhere near $400...HP has become very expensive!!!

hey Mike
so wut's the deal on making these things get the best performance (dodge Hemi's) that is
like first in order
load the diablo or put performance exhaust on, then intake, or not neccessarily in that order ?
just to keep the expense out of pocket down , i mean i dont think i should have all this hp and the engine is'nt able to breath or push it out,, but then again maybe these hemi's are better now days
i've watched the video on diablo and it looks like a squidiot can do it :o, down load and set the settings
thanx

MarkYes, it really is that easy, and you can even get further into it by modifying the parameters on your own to dial in your trucks performance.
As for an order of operations, I'd say do the tuner first, then a CAI then some exhaust work, and they'll all play together nicely.
Thanks

Once you're able to start taking it easy on the truck again, let us know how your mileage gains look.
