Well, just installed my AFE Stage 2 on my truck. Really seemed to open her up. Nice roar from under the hood and the old butt dyno seems to feel a bit quicker. You can really tell now when you open the throttle up. Looks good as well. I have a pre-filter en route as well. Ended up buying the Stage 2 from Amazon for $220.

does that kit use the stock lower air box and fresh air inlet?

Yeah, uses the stock air box lower. It has a shroud that fits on the lower that the air filter sits in. It is not a closed system, Im sure that it would be easy to fashion a lid to close it off, but not necessary. Im sure that it also draws some air from the stock air inlet as well.

problem is that its just drawing hot under hood air and not cold outside air...not bashing it im just looking for a true cold air intake for my 08

I would believe, if the 08 is similar to the 11, that you could use the factory air box, fit an elbow into the box and use a cone filter. Then just fab a straight tube with a flexible connection with hose clamps. The factory box is close to CAI, just the intake hose is not efficient.
