Hi, my first post here. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab 4x4 Laramie with the hemi engine. My problem is that the radio quit, won't come on at all. At the same time the keyless entry and the interior cab lights don't come on until I put the key into the ignition and turn the accessory power on or start the truck. The power door lock on the drivers side door doesn't work either until you turn the ignition on. Once the accessory or started the keyless entry works fine but still no radio. Seems it's the constant live feed isn't getting to the needed systems. Power seats still work without key in ignition. Would this be a security problem? Ignition switch problem? Checked all fuses, all the grounds I could see...unplugged and plugged in all kinds of plugs, no go. Any Ideas?

thanks

Check the IOD fuse in the fuse block. This fuse being pulled out or blown will cause these conditions. It is fuse # 51, and has a black plastic holder around it.

Thanks for the reply..... I tried that no go...put a new one in there just to make sure...tested with a 12 volt test light. I even took the whole fuse box off and took off all the plugs on the bottom and sprayed it with contact cleaner . Was one contact that had some gunk on it...cleaned it off and put it all back together...nothing...I spent a couple days trying all kinds of things...

I now tried replacing the ignition switch as well. No luck. Could it be something with the security system? The remote mirrors and power seats still work without the key in the ignition...has me totally stumped.

Hold it. The ignition switch has nothing to do with this issue. The power mirrors and seats are not protected by the IOD fuse circuit. So those will still work. Lets get some diagrams up here:

The IOD feeds multiple circuits, more than what's on this diagram, but this seems to be the closest to your issues. Power locks, RKE and dome lights are controlled by the Instrument Cluster. If the IOD is not present they will not be fully functional, especially with the key off. The radio has a few power feeds, but a missing IOD feed will result in no radio at all. You also notice the Data Link Connector in the diagram. So... no power at that terminal of the DLC, no scan tool functionality. So even if that IOD fuse is good and has power on both sides, doesn't mean there isn't a wiring issue in-between. I'd say start by seeing if there is power at the DLC on pin 16 (bottom row, far right). no power means that the IOD feed isn't present. First place to check from here is Connector C219, the tall white connector under the left side of the dash, has a 10mm in the center you loosen until it disconnects. Look for corrosion here. Report your findings.

Thanks for the info...I will try that. Also when this started the security light was partially coming on(not lighting up fully) and you could hear a clicking under the dash with the key off. Since I took the battery cables off overnight, it doesn't click or come on anymore.

Tried looking for power on the DLC. No power there. Took connector C219 apart and doesn't seem to be any corrosion there. Put it all back together and still nothing.

Well I finally broke down and brought it to a dealership.$158.00 later it works. Seems there was a faulty wire between the PDC and DLC/radio.lights RKE etc. Says here they traced back and found green part of wire, cut out green section and wired in a new piece and it then worked. Thanks for the replies I received..

Good to hear it's fixed.
