Picked up a 1999 Ram 2500 gasser last night from a friend of mine. I don't think I did too bad for less than 2 grand.

It has 226,000 miles, good rubber, a nearly new diamond plate tool box, and a $550 Go Industries brush guard (beefy!) My only complaint is...it's not diesel! But, it's a lot of truck for the money.
It needs several things, for one, the speedometer doesn't work until the truck gets up to 50 mph. The speed sensor I'm told was replaced but this didn't fix the problem. The ABS doesn't work (brake light is on), it needs a serpentine belt and an idler, and it has a fist-sized rust hole thru the left cab corner, and a little more rust above the rear wheels, and lastly, the steering is sloppy as a goat.
Good news is the air works nice, the radio works, and it's a quiet truck. The plenum intake gasket was just replaced and so it's not blowing any smoke. It does consume a bit of oil though, I'm told.
