Have not bought my truck yet. Trying to decide on the Hemi or Cummins. Will be buying a 2012 2500 within the next three weeks. Won't be beating this truck into the ground. Mainly used for pulling a two horse trailer and some gear in the bed. Sales dude says diesel is better for resale value and fuel mileage.

Any real world experience on the fuel mileage? I'm switching from a 2004 Nissan Armada that is still running great. I've pulled a horse trailer all over the East Coast and it gets about 11 MPG pulling and about 16-17 when cruising with no load.

Thanks

p.s. what are the best after market accessory sites for Ram trucks?

Are you sure you even need a 2500? My 05 hemi QC 4X4 Ram 1500 tows excellent till you get over 10,000 lbs. Mine does not have mds or variable valve timing, but I get 16-17 mph normally not towing, better on the highway with cruise, 18+. Towing, it really depends how heavy your trailer is. I towed a 28' boat from Toronto to Maine last winter in a blizzard 4x4 the whole way and got around 11 mpg. The towed load was about 7500 lbs, perhaps a bit more. If you to big trailers all the time, the CTD is a no brainer. If you only tow once in a while, the hemi does a good job. A friend of mine has an 04 2500 4x4 with a hemi and was bragging that he had just towed a 26,000 lb livestock trailer to a fair in New Hampshire and it did a better job than his old Powerstroke F350. I questioned his sanity! Drive one of each, The CTD costs a lot more, yes it does hold it's value better, but when gas is $3.19/gal and diesel is $4.00, gotta think. They both drive excellent. If you get a CTD you might pick up a( Diesel ) magazine. Lots of good info.
