For all of you guys who are dieing to learn more about the Cummins engine but are afraid to ask I'm posting up some basic diagrams. I'm also hoping that we will be able to attract a couple of diesel experts out there to chime in. The 'million mile' mark is a real badge of honor and I always seem to meet someone who's eclipse this mark.

IMHO the Cummins is a pinnacle of modern internal combustion engineering. I hope to be fortunate enough to own one someday (maybe in a Gen4 2500 ??)

I'm a die hard Powerstroke fan, but I am also a big fan of the Cummins. If I was in the market, it would be very, very tough choice to make.
6.7L.... good grief that is huge for a straight 6.
I'm a die hard Powerstroke fan....Eewwww. Shun the powerstroke believer. Shun! Shuuuunnnnnnaaahh.

I'd have to say I'm lucky I'm not at a Dodge dealer anymore. When I was at school recently, all I hear about is other techs having to do the cleaning procedure on the 6.7L turbos, and it's a pain in the a-- because you have to drill and tap the turbo housing for the cleaning kit.

I made the mistake of driving an 08 2500 Ram QC 4X4. That is one fine truck! If the economy was better I would have one! So I may have to drive my hemi Ram a million miles.

i will give ford credit for the 7.3L but in general ford nor chevy have anything on the cummins powered rams. i went to diesel school and comparing the ford and GM inDirect injection v8 diesels compareative to the cummins straight 6 direct injetced it almost always favors dodge when in terms if diesel reliability, longjevity, performance, torque, and in general design. the straight motor even coming doan to gasoline straight like my fav the ford 300 are always the type of motor to last and be reliable and able to produce some torque and any truck guy would rather want torque comparative to power in general.
but again this is about the 6.7L which is fraking huge for what it is. and im still favoring the 5.9L because how long its ben around and its proven its worth 10 fold. i have very high hopes for 6.7L but im scarred to see what all the stupis emissions are gonna do to it because of this fake tree huger global warming crisis. such as the DPF which is retarted because all it does is clog up and all the other stuff they have to put on diesels theys days is rediculous because it destroys the longevity of the motors.

well maybe huge for a pickup , but kinda small compared to what I work on.
The 7.3 is a good engine, mainly cus it's an International engine, too bad they stuck it in a Ford........lol :P
There is a guy pulling in our area wth a International 466 in a Dodge Ram Truck, he whoops everyone, until they protest and Tech him. Personally I'd stick a Deere 466 in a Dodge.
