I bought a 1998 ram 2500 and its missing the linkage between the perportioning valve and the axle. Does anyone know the length betweeen the two pivot points of the linkage.

My brake line to the valve blew out in a customer's driveway and after limping home I noticed the link is not even connected to the valve arm. Like anything Dodge, it is rotted off. The link is around 10 inches but I can check in the morning before I begin ripping apart and replacing the line, valve, and rubber line to axle. I am probably missing something else that will surprise me and make me want to drop the truck from a tall building.
I measured mine ('99 2500 SLT) at 12.25" center to center. Hope it helps. Last edited by Junk Driver; 03-08-2010 at 06:50 PM. |

I just left the dealership after getting the price for a new height sensor (proportioning valve) and it was close to $600. What a joke. I guess the retirement fund for the union members must get $450 of that because it would be overpriced if it was $150. I can't wait to get a Ford again.
Now I am looking for a boneyard valve. Aargh! |

what do you expect from an 11 year old truck...........yeah and a ford would be an improvement.. the problem is behind the wheel..

The truck has only 84k miles and is parked on asphalt. How the hell did old vehicles survive 30 and 40 years virtually untouched.
Maybe it is the driver.

I snaked a new brake line through the frame encased in vacuum tubing that I vented every 6" by cutting a V with dykes. The height sensor I was able to remove the old fitting and rubber hose connection. The price of parts is ridiculous. Dodge wants over $5/ea. for the plastic push rivets that hold the wheel well in place.
